What is Invisalign?
The Invisalign® system is the clear way to straighten your teeth and give you a smile of which you can be proud. It uses advanced, 3D computer-imaging technology to create your whole treatment plan from where your teeth are now to where they need to be.
Then clear aligners are custom made for your teeth. The aligners will start to move your teeth in the right direction. Every two weeks, you will get new aligners which will move your teeth a little bit more until we achieve the desired result.
Since each mouth is different, treatment times will vary depending on your needs.
At Trinity Orthodontics, we use the most current state-of-the-art technology. Dr. Nelson uses an iTero scanner to take digitial impressions of your teeth to obtain the highest precision “imprint” of your teeth. This new generation system for taking “molds” of your teeth (no more sticky puddy) improves treatment efficiency and the overall patient experience.
What are the benefits of Invisalign®?
Since Invisalign® is clear, you can get the results you deserve without anyone even knowing you are getting treated. You can still perform all of your normal daily tasks while simultaneously working on your smile.
You can also remove the aligners when you eat so you can still eat whatever you want. You also don’t have to worry about your oral health. You can remove the aligners whenever you brush and floss your teeth.
Invisalign® is also more comfortable than traditional braces since the aligners are custom made for your mouth. Traditional braces often cause irritation.
With Invisalign® braces, you will spend less time at the dentist’s office because you won’t have to have as many follow-ups.
Using the latest technology, we can show you exactly where you are and what your mouth will look like when you are done. Many people enjoy seeing a visual before they get started.
How does it work?
Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position that Dr. Nelson has prescribed. You’ll visit our practice about once every 12 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-18 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
Attachments are used in conjunction with the aligners to aid in the movement of the teeth. Attachments are small geometrically shaped “bumps” of tooth-colored composite that are bonded to some of the teeth. The aligner is designed to fit tightly over them for enhanced tooth movement. These small attachments are used to allow the aligner to grip certain teeth tighter and move them into the correct position.
Not every tooth needs an attachment. This will depend on how severe your case is and how teeth need to be moved. During each stage of treatment, only certain teeth can be moved. When you remove your aligner from your teeth, the attachments are almost invisible.
